"The Best of" X10 - Musings from the Void Special

Rather than the usual weekly recap, this weeks 'Musings' provides you with the definitive summary of the best news from Microsoft's X10 event... enjoy!

Halo Reach

Firstly those who own a copy of Halo ODST can look forward to playing the multiplayer beta on May 3rd, and after what we have seen so far of Halo Reach it's going to be a LONG wait. Here's what we now know from X10:
  • Bungie promises a more character driven story, complete with "Spartans removing their helmet".
  • Well over 30 character models can be in a single firefight, complete with twice as many vehicles as in Halo 3.
  • The fights are described as sandbox in nature, "we want huge, epic battles with more characters and enemies".
  • The Covenant will be re-invented to appear more alien - players will no longer be able to understand their language.
  • Special "sneak assassinations" can now be executed.
  • Armour abilities replace single-use equipment, players can now customise their Spartan armour.
  • A special vid-doc has been released, which can be seen below:

Lost Planet 2

A few snippets were released for Lost Planet 2. These are that the game will feature offline split-screen co-op and, as shown below, some gameplay pictures featuring Marcus, Dom and Resident Evil villain Wesker.

Fable 3

So what was it that Peter Molyneux was so worried would "piss-off gamers"? Well, only that Fable 3 does not have a HUD. Wow. What we also now know includes:
  • The world will be much darker and inspired by "Victorian England".
  • "Touch" reactions replace the Expression system used in Fable 2, meaning players can now interact with characters to influence their behaviour more directly.
  • The story centres around you trying to overcome an evil tyrant, called Logan, who is the current ruler of the games central town.
  • The game will be released this holiday and screens can be found here.
Alan Wake

The game has been in production for what feels like a lifetime but finally players know when they can step into the world of Alan - May 21st. Latest news includes:
  • Players who pre-order the game will receive a "Bright Falls" bonus pack that contains Avatar gear, Xbox Live theme and "making of" video.
  • A new collectors edition of the game has been revealed, see below.
  • In addition a new trailer can also be found below.

Looks like the time spent on the game has paid-off well!!

Dead Rising 2

A new trailer and a bunch of screens have been released, these can all be found here. In addition Capcom have confirmed a playable prologue to the game, complete with content not found in the main game, will be released exclusively for Xbox Live. The content is called "Case Zero". The game will be released September in Europe.

and the rest...

An exclusive Final Fantasy bundle will be released March 9th, including the 250GB console and a copy of the game amongst other things.

New screens of Crackdown 2 have been released, head over here for the full details.

VG247 have an excellent collection of Xbox exclusive Splinter Cell Conviction videos... the game looks awesome!
